As I was developing this blog I received a weekly newsletter from the
US Department of Education Regarding "Digital Learning Day"... how
ironic! Check it out:
Weekly Update: Everyday should be Digital Learning Day
Despite the growth of online learning and the developmental of technologies that are more and more user friendly, there is resistance, or at least skepticism, about the usefulness and quality of online courses, webinars, webcasts, etc. While research shows that online learning can be an effective means of providing educational opportunities, we have all probably also experienced the flop of online experiences. Even more so, we have all also experienced the flop of face-to-face learning, yet as a whole this method is seen as more effective.
This blog is meant to facilitate discussion about why we resist the online learning movement, and how this resistance might contribute to the sabotage the potential of online learning.
